Anticipation of the New EU-US TTC Partnerships

Anonos, one of the leading providers of top-notch data enablement and protection technology, declared an update on Thursday, June 10 of the upcoming alliance focused on EU-US TTC Partnerships. This partnership will fall under the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) Schrems 2.

US President Joe Biden and Ursula von der Leyen, EU Commission President, are expected to announce the development on June 15. The new EU-US Trade and Technology Council (TTC) Partnerships is expected to primarily focus on the increasing dominance displayed by the Chinese tech sector and promoting democratic values.

Founder of Belgian law firm Acontario and the European Chief Ethical Data Strategist of Anonos, Magali Feys, stated that the proposed TTC Partnerships would have to abide with the CJEU Schrems 2 ruling as well as the guidelines of EC and EDPB, keeping the data protection in mind satisfying Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations.

Feys also explained that with the adoption of Schrems 2, organizations are required to cease previous data processing practices rendering zero protection throughout processing. Legacy data processing makes the practice unsustainable and increases vulnerability, security, and surveillance breaches.

Data protection during processing is just as important as it is to protect data when it is in transit or at rest. However, Gary LaFever, CEO of Anonos delivered a counter-statement saying that the Schrems 2 ruling cannot be replaced or neglected due to the council, rather should be acknowledged as a positive component for commercial organizations.
